First adder I've seen this year. Lovely male about 60cm long.
Just curled up basking, warming up enough to eat and get moving I hope.
Took no notice of me.

We are in rural Pembrokeshire. Lots of swallows and martins but I’m rather disappointed not to have herd a cwcw.

On the Thursday before Christmas, someone showed me a photo of a daffodil growing in their garden, take  that morning in one of the more exposed parts of Bristol (just off the Downs).

Spotted my first celandine of the year today.
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Anti-frog-migration netting strung along one side of the road in the forest near here. Rishi would be proud.

We have aconites, Thomasinias and snowdrops in flower.  And now we helibores and crocuses, plus the daphne. And the blackthorn is in blossom.

I’ve just heard the first dulcet chimes of a ice cream van.
It’s the last day of half-term, so I might have missed others.

Frogspawn in our pond (Wolverhampton). Must have been very recent as it has not yet swollen to full size. They kept very quiet about it.

Yesterday: smooth newt in the back garden - very sluggish though. Squashed frog out on an Essex lane. Also first icecream van in the Recreation Ground over the road, which always sets next-door's dogs off howling!

Quite a bit of hawthorn, or maybe it's blackthorn, in blossom. And shedding already!

It will be blackthorn this early. There's a reason hawthorn is also known as the may tree.
