i don't think so. but you could start one.

i get mine from www.pocketgps.co.uk - some very odd collections [Argos for instance]

I know there's Halfords locations there somewhere.

Thanks jellied.

Which ones are you using? The only handy ones I can see are the ATMs (but I need to check later in case Garmin already has those).

I used to use them alot when i was driving more for work. So Halfords, National Trust, Tesco, Sainsburys etc when we went on holiday too.

ATMs are fine in theory but not much good for car GPS as you can't actually get any where near them in the car!

I use quite an obscure type of GPS/SatNav so the actual down loading and importing of POIs is to painful now.
There are other sites that offer POIs - a quick google and you'll see what i mean. not all are free.

With pocketgps you can start your own and simply add to it !

I wonder if we could extract all the OSM nodes with shop=bicycle ?
It takes blood and guts to be this cool but I'm still just a cliché.

Good call.

Theres lots of scope for an Audax POI dataset detailing:

Bike Shops (and Halfords!)
Post Offices
Superstores & express stores (incl. garage sites).
Village stores, Tea rooms, Cafes, Chippies....

Much of this information is kicking around the web in one form or another. Using OSM as a common repository from which POI datasets could be generated may well be the way to go...

I've had a first crack, it's a GPX of European bike shops, in:

Index of /andyg/maps

called "shop-cycle-europe.gpx".  Give it a try.

(Method: From Tagwatch, download the planet list of shop=cycle points.  Load into JOSM and trim off the non-Euro areas.  Load into GPSBabel to convert to GPX.)

If it does work nicely, I think we could start a little bike shop hunt.
