I've had a male blackbird in the garden all winter. Very well fed he has been too. He is a feisty fellow and chases off a youngster, a couple of starlings - who give as good as they get, a robin or two and has even had a go at a timid wood pigeon.
Anyway, just lately a female has appeared on the scene and they seem to be getting on well, so hopefully there'll be a nest nearby. The privet hedge I planted four years ago is quite a way from being bushy enough, but there are ample other local spots.
