Always worth repeating that Ibuprofen should not be used to prevent swelling in the belief that it is an anti-inflammatory, Co-Codamol is preferred, Ibuprofen increases swelling and bruising. Get well soon

Ibuprofen might increase bleeding in the early stages by impairing platelet function and worsen swelling by increasing water retention.
Personally, I would not let that deter me; paracetamol has never worked for any pain for me (maybe it would work on some discomfort for which I'd not bother with a pill, I don't know) and is a major component of co-codamol. Given my tendency to a slow bowel, I don't fancy its codeine either...
