I was planning to do a bike commute today, but was glad I didn't.
Got up at 5am, and the lurgy I have rumbling under made itself felt. It was 0 C outside, and I decided to go back to bed. Glad I did.

By lunchtime, the snow had started.
It was too wet to lie.
By home-time, it was a proper blizzard over the Cairn, and I was glad to be inside a Land Rover and not on a bike.

Definite snow in the Peak on the way home this evening. Climbing through about 300m brought me into a flurry which continued on and off for about 20 minutes - ground still too warm for it to settle. Air temperature up there was 0.5C. Northerly 10mph headwind. Almost under-dressed for the occasion... brrr.

Brief snow fall in Helmsley. Unfortunately I have to ride to Scarborough and wanted to go via stain dale and the back roads. If there is snow on the ground my 25mm slicks will have to stay on the A170.

There's been snow in Warsaw too, I'm reliably informed. Again, it's early, though only about two weeks rather than a month. Assuming it does melt - if it doesn't then it's over a month early.

According to my daughter, the Lecht and Cairngorm ski runs are open this weekend. She is a little bit torn as she has an assessment on Monday so had planned to spend the weekend in her studio, working. All her friends made the trip north yesterday. I wonder if she'll hold out.
Her boyfriend plans to do this tonight

Snowing in Toytown now. We need to find some new words for snow. This is the kind that is wet enough to make a sort of lumpy mulch on the pavements and cars and makes a slapping noise when it lands.

I went downstairs for a cup of tea and when I came back to bed and looked out the window it had turned into huge fluffy flakes falling straight down because there's no wind. They must still be quite wet because they fall fast-ish. One of the good things about having a street light outside my bedroom window - watching snow in bed. Shame the light is orange. The one outside my childhood bedroom was white and snow looked really magical.

It's snowing here in Amsterdam.

This is the first snow of the year that I've noticed here, and this is the week I decided I'm going to take my bike home, so I will be riding to Hook of Holland on Friday. I sincerely hope the weather improves for that, not least because I don't have all of my cold weather gear over here.

If it doesn't improve, I will be in Decathlon on Thursday shopping for overshoes etc..
