H259. I also got a date yesterday for a cataract operation on my left eye, which is July 22nd.
Had it been earlier in the year I might have been tempted to have the lens focused for reading route sheets, but the middle distance will be better for direction arrows, although reading menus on cameras might justify a close focus.

I did the East and West Coasts 600 without any training since the 400 in May, so I'm relatively sanguine about doing PBP without much preparation.

S178. Chum is S177 so he has to ride in front.

Start time is 19h45 so we finish at lunchtime when there should be a bit less traffic.
I've dusted off all those old bottles and set them up straight

This was one of my main reasons for choosing my start time. With my normal pace I should roll into the end with plenty of cheering crowds & just in time for a meal & a beer. 19h30 start for me.

The finish arrangements are new, so it's hard to know how it will pan out. Much depended in previous years on the standard of those directing traffic on the final roundabout. The optimal time for arrival was around 7 am.
It will be interesting to see how the buffet is handled. At LEL there was a problem with riders coming back to see the later arrivals and eating all the food.

ESL states, "H259. I also got a date......"

FWIW: I'm H253. If I see you standing 6 rows up from me on the start line I'll give you a nudge.

In 2007 I quite enjoyed the return through the Perche (from the Italian perchè?) in the pitch dark and the rain.  Hope it's as much fun this time.

The Perche is the source of the Percheron horse. A versatile beast whose abilities stretch from show jumping to pulling trams at Disneyland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percheron

Passing through the Perche I get a Spandau Ballet ear worm. 'I don't need this Percheron' inspired by a mis-hearing of 'Chant number 1'.
