You'll get the routesheet sent out in the post shortly. You don't get handed the brevet card until just before the start.
It didn't look at all like that in the photographs

Thanks!
Now I need to stop my bar-bag/route holder pointing down every time I go over a bump, it leads to many annoying stops at junctions where I have to move it up to see where I am going, oh well, can't have everything going well, but I plan to do a bodge job involving rubber shims.

.............. to see where I am going..................

Remember not to miss the turn left at the end of the long descent after reaching the top of Redstone Rigg on this event like wot I did once.

halfway to Cranshaws I was.

Got my routesheet in the post today!
Now to fettle together a map holder...

Curious as to tyre recomendations as the route sheet suggests not using light tyres.
Currently got 700x28c Rubino Pro 3s fitted to the dawes horizon.
Only other tyres I have are a pair of 700x32c conti city contacts   ???

The route often goes over rough bits of road -
the light tyres he refers to would be the lightweight 700 x 23 racing  ones that a lot of roadies will be using
I think your 700x28c tyres will be ok -

I've never ridden it on anything but 700x23c tyres. I wouldn't say the roads are any worse than other audaxes although the descent to Garvald can be a bit of a mudbath.

I've opted for the 5 to 5.5 hours time, so planning a leasurely TOEL

I see you've fallen for the classic beginner's mistake of putting down a realistic finishing time for the ToEL. Most people seem add about an hour at least to their estimated times. I remember I put 4.5 to 5 hours down once and it was 14 roadies and me in the group. I did manage to sit on the back for about 5 minutes or so then never saw them again.

BTDTGTTS  :-[

This will be my first Audax  although I did the "Not the Tour of East Lothian" last year :)
I put down 5.5-6hrs (10:20 start) so am just hoping to get in with a group of folk that I can keep pace with and hold a conversation at the same time!

Looks like the 10.10 start is more popular than I anticipated.
I also hope the weather will be not too brutal. Redstane Rigg is bad enough on a nice day.

See some of you there no doubt, before you shoot off like bats out of hell leaving me pootling amiably on me tod as per...
Embrace your inner Fred.

Myself and Stu (1st Audax for him) are away with the first group of the day.  Give us a shout as you sprint past.

Great a wheel to hang onto.  Normally manage to sit on until the lights and then its a solo effort for the remaining 99 km. ;D  I'll be on the Spa Audax and Stu on a Trek (something).

Reading a amp/routecard with watering eyes (after a descent) would probably have led to me doing that. Thanks for the tip!

The routesheet advises no light tyres and mudguards. I can only get 25mm (still fairly light) without mudguards. Well I have two spare tubes ::-)

Good morning everyone,

Looking forward to the 17th Feb  ;D last time I rode this was in a training session a couple of years ago.  Have opted for group E 5.5 to 6 hours.

Hi again, been looking round this forum, found it really useful, and I have seen talk about medals etc. I am under the impression that I could get one if I complete the ride, but I am unsure what I need to do, and whether I need to be a member of Audax UK? Any guidance would be much appreciated.

You don't need to be a member of AUK to get a medal. They cost £2 and you can get them by telling the organiser you want a medal and giving him the money when you finish. He probably won't have any to give you on the day but you'll get it returned in the post with your brevet card.

Tim, you don't need a gpx for the TOEL. As a member of Audax Ecosse and current AUK recumbent champion you should have it permanently etched into your mind :P

I'll gladly sadly miss this year's fun as i'm hoping to complete my RRtY this weekend by doing a 200k DIY.
