My grate frend Mr Birb notes that Hook Norton Brewery are still selling to the public, both from the brewery shop and for delivery if one is local.  After all, BEER is food.  Especially in Oxfordshire.

I haven't had a beer for three weeks (and I normally drink 10-15 pints a week). But Laithwaites is keeping me in wine. Happy days (to a degree)!

On the porch step today, one box of Howling Hops and one of Tiny Rebel. That's 48 cans.

It is a four-day weekend in the plague bunker.

Oh golly, I received deliveries from both Abbeydale and Thornbridge today.

From Thornbridge came 12 cans of Jaipur and 2 of both Cocoa Wonderland and Pink Grapefruit Halcyon.

From Abbeydale I got 6 cans of Indulgence and a 5L keg of Heathen.

This almost makes up for the lack of pub trips whilst I'm out on the bike.

Darn it, the pub was only doing takeaway today and they closed at 1730.

Fortunately, we appear to be attending a virtual beer festival, which involved a box of cans arriving on the doorstep yesterday. As far as I can tell, this is identical to simply drinking beer at home.

Good god, I want to go to an actual pub filled with loud people who I'll hate.

I've been trying to create the Thursday evening Krakatoa beer experience in lockdown with varying degrees of failure.

Apparently, the virtual beer festival is tomorrow tonight so I can't drink that. I think she's taking this too seriously. Apparently it's this.

Fortunately there is other beer.

Didn't bother. Drank the beer and made a curry instead.

I'm even missing overpriced 'street food.'

I'm missing their taproom.

Into The Groove IPA goes very well with a hypervolume We Appreciate Power.

Will save the barley wines until after dinner. Sense comes before insensibility.

I cracked the 5L mini-keg of Heathen on Thursday, I'm making very good headway and will definitely have it drunk within 3 days...

I'm quite enjoying my Howling Hops (no tap room, they have a tank room), so much another box arrived today. Tropical Deluxe is quite quaffable.

I'm missing my Pressure Drop though.

I had a Moor Beer case from Flavourly earlier. Tried the Raw, which is an unfiltered best bitter, and Hoppiness, which is a hoppy IPA. Both yum but preferred the latter. Have two other varieties in the box to try but that's for another day.

Resurecting an old thread to say that: If you like 'flavoured' ales, Aldi have on offer at the moment (£1.29) a Toffee Ale and a Plum Porter that are rather good.  ;)

I'm rather partial to Plum Porter (and Damson Porter) - our local breweries seem to feature them quite often.

When the unpleasantness started last year one of our neighbours sorted out home delivery from a local brewery (North Cotswold) - he gets a list of that weeks brews on a Tuesday, normally about 4 of their own plus a guest or two (and some cider, but who drinks that?)   You place an order through the "nnnn Beer Club" WhatsApp groups (about 8 memners) and lo and behold on Friday about lunchtime the delivery appears.  A 4 pint plastic bottle for £10.00.  [An 18 pint box is available at even less per pint  together with 500ml bottles at a higher price]

The "service" has continued post lockdown which is pretty good - for me it's controlled volume per week  and no hassle of fetching it.

This coming week there should be a ruby Christmas beer along with the usual IPA style stuff - I'll probably have 2 x 4pts  ;D

Windswept brewery, where we have got our xmas mini keg from for the past few years didn't have anything particularly enticing on and then I left it til a bit late, so have done an order from Brew Toon in Peterheed in the vain hope it might arrive in time.
