I stumbled across a couple of goodies of Essex winning the Benson & Hedges Cup in 1979. The final, against Surrey, I remember extremely well because it was the first time I went to Lords (tickets £4.50 each). I had forgotten the semifinal, in which Essex won a tight game against Yorkshire. I didn't attend that one, no doubt because it was on a Wednesday and I would have been teaching. I also attended the quarter-final that year, at Worcester, and only saw 11 overs bowled: the pitch was waterlogged and they started late, then it rained again. The best bit was watching John Lever dismiss Glenn Turner. Essex won fairly comfortably the following day.
It's 20 years since I watched a cricket match (Glam v Essex, Swansea 1995). The new format, and the impossibility of watching test cricket without paying Murdoch have meant that I have just lost interest.

I wonder what has happened to all the BBC archived sports stuff for sports they don't cover any more?
