Wow.  Whodathunk.  Explode down mega cooling towers x3 and there might be a bit of flying debris.

Well obviously.  The story is that they miscalculated the radius of the unsafe area.

Oh dear. It is a shadow of its former self, just three chimneys rising above the grey. All identity gone. The only exciting thing was switching from dieseasel to leccy. That’s normally done at Swindon.

They're supposed to have fixed the Steventon bridge problem and should be pan-up from Swindon to Paddington. Or so I thought.

Does that effect the Sustrans Cycleway, behind what was the power station???
What have they planned for the old power station site... more housing or business park, Education facility or Milton extension on the brownfield site? Didcot need more leisure facilities.. to draw people in.. mega car boot-site or Crazy golf paradise.

It'll take more than a car boot sale or crazy golf to persuade me to visit Didcot

But but but but but steam trains! Old rolling stock! Working steam locomotives! And you don't even have to enter Didcot proper, just walk out of the back of the railway station & into the reason you got off the train there.

My friend Baker on Board is at some sort of Food Festival in Didcot Civic Hall today.

He has posted the obligatory food and Kitchen Activity pictures on Facebook.

The final (and tallest) bit is due for de-Erection on Sunday morning 7-9am. Sorry this is short-notice - had a very distracting week at work, and this has snuck up on me (there's been very little local chatter about it - well basically none, TBH ...)

I read that as 're-erection'. Which was puzzling.

Heard it when I was walking the dog from about 10 miles away. Thought it was something local being blown over.

I guess I won't be able to sit in the car park at West Ilseley and repeat this sketch from July 2007 then?

I would want a "science bridge" to be made from carbon nanotubes, or at least to be suspended by supercooled electromagnets.

It'll probably just be a ferroconcrete slab, though  >:(

Apparently there's a new bike parking facility at Didcot station and it's, gasp, a building!
