Shocking news: Rob Brock - RIP
« on: 09 March, 2009, 07:24:51 pm »
A note from Velovision:
VeloVision Online

One of the nicest guys I ever met.  When Nick wanted to buy a Flevo Oké Ja, he invited us to his house, and allowed us to test ride them.  We also had a go on one or two of the crazier machines he had at the time.  At Cyclefest 98, he lugged me around onboard the back trailer of the pink quad (seen below with Rob in the stoker's seat) to take pictures.  A great shame.

I have a horrible sense of history repeating itself here.

RIP Rob.

B'gger.

I shall not forget the great company that Rob and family provided at the extremely soggy 2003 Worlds in Friedrichshafen.

Sad.  Very sad.  The Brox was a work of great genius.  But with genius often comes a troubled mind.  I hope he is at peace now.

RIP Rob.

Awfully sad.

What people seem to say in the aftermath all too often is that they didn't realise the depth of the despair that these people go through before taking the final, ultimate step. It's an observation, with no implied criticism, but it's exactly what I read about Ian Curtis only yesterday.

Brother had a Velopassengeryquaddy type thing made from one of Rob's basic quads. Only met him at the 'Fests in Lancaster but liked him and his attitude.  I heard he was happily living in Derbyshire so it was a shock when I heard today.

I've only just found out who this guy was with investigating the possibility of buying a Brox.

I bought my trike off him 3 years ago, he couldn't have been more helpful and seemed a happy sort of person, however when you go down the big black hole of depression there seems to be no way out and usually look ok to others.
I hope he is at peace.
