Since the thread title does say 'spoilers likely' - it's a fair point Jaded, if a little dramatically put...  ;) O:-)

Not a bad recent episode.

The new lot they've got in for this series could make their jobs a lot easier by going to spy school and learning how to do things secretly and out of sight.

Today's Spooks was recorded where the Thames Meander passed today, if only I knew that in the other order :) We could then have had a little roll play ...

Yes indeed. Their tradecraft is somewhat lacking. The severe budget cuts that seem to have ravaged their training program have also removed any kind of backup from the team. Want to keep an eye on someone? Well, that will take 2 of your 5 person team. Need help in an emergency? Don't worry, one of your guys will get in his really expensive car and drive across London to help out. Good job that those Audi's have a built in sat nav as this is the same member of the brain trust who let free a deranged psycho, purely on the basis that he said something along the lines of 'I ain't done nuffink, honest guv'... a short while before sed psycho tried to kill a bunch of people.

that was a really top episode. The suicide bomber plot line (and all the 2ry aspects) were nothing new, but I think they realised that and just presented it all in a really understated* way that still provided some tension.

The russkies-yanks story arc was nicely advanced too.

Last episode moan.

Oh I forgot, they are NEVER stuck in traffic, where as the other program we are watching, Hidden, the main actor was stuck in traffic in the last episode.

Maybe I've been consuming too much Le Carré*, but one thing is odd about Ruth's new job:

at no point did any character mention the possibility that she would act as a "mole" within Whitehall to help out her old brothers-in-arms.

Anyhoo, it's all hotting up nicely ...

I thought that the Borg Queen was a bit under-needed for this part, but now she's ace ;)
