Campsite recommendations near Maldon/Chelmsford?
« on: 10 July, 2017, 10:29:43 am »
Looking for a site for a couple of nights later this month.  Quiet, child friendly and within a short drive (20 mins - half hour) of Maldon/Chelmsford would be great.  Thanks.

If you're a member of the C&CC then there is Retreat Farm.

And, if you're in God's Own Region which is Mid-Essex on a Wednesday evening there's only one thing you can do!

I don't think it has toilets or showers.

Osea Leisure Park has a campsite, but check the price before you turn up as I think it is a bit pricey.

Hoe Mill is a Camping & Caravan Club certified site - they sometimes require you to be a member.

Look up Bouncers Farm Wickham Bishops - they certainly used to do tent camping.

Thanks all, plenty of options too look at.

Thanks for the offer, but it'll be a weekend with no bikes. :(

A few local suggestions. Unfortunately the two on the chelmer and black water rule themselves out for me as one is strictly caravans as hasn't got toilets and ones c&c club only. Shame as would love to canoe to one. There's also one at tollesbury marina which have been to with family.

I cycled to the edwardstone one recently and was very quiet but was just a Friday night and only a few others there

I am probably too late with this suggestion, and it's probably a bit too far away from Maldon/Chemlsford. However, http://www.rushbanksfarm.co.uk/home/ is great, it's right next to a river for swimming in a beautiful location and I understand they now have showers on site as well.
What on earth am I doing here on this beautiful day?! This is the only life I've got!!
