Can anyone recommend an unlocking service for an iPhone 5 on O2?
« on: 30 September, 2017, 11:28:56 pm »
My neighbour passed on a iPhone 5 to me following an upgrade but unfortunately she couldn't remember the answers to the security questions to request an unlock from O2.  I've successfully wiped and registered the phone with iTunes and have it working with a PAYG sim but would really like the phone unlocked so I can use it with my contract sim on Vodafone.  Any recommendations for a reliable unlocking service?

Given that the iPhone 5 will no longer get iOS updates, you can probably jailbreak it but only the networks can fully unlock an iPhone.

I took a punt on this for an iphone 5S somebody gave me

seems to be fine with updates and hard resetting too.

Have you asked O2?

It cannot be the first time that this has happened....

Thanks!  this looks promising, I'll give it a try.

I updated mine to iOS 11 just a couple of days ago.

Given that the iPhone 5 will no longer 'officially' get iOS updates

I was a bit confused by this so just did some further research... Apparently it's the bog-standard 5 and 5C that are no longer supported, but mine is the 5S (the difference being that the 5S has a 64-bit processor). Tbh, I never realised there was such a significant difference in the hardware of the different 5 models.

Just to say this has worked perfectly for me, thanks!
