Anyone else catch these? They looked almost like a demonstration/project by a director or producer.  Half hour documentaries with no voice over, just noises of things being made.

The two I watched were a blacksmith producing a hand-made knife and another guy making a chair.  A perfect way to while away a flight.  I want one of those knives now.

I think I've got the title right

There have been a few of these, although I'm not sure they're all available on iPlayer:
The two you watched were from the first outing of the series
Handmade by royal appointment included John Lobb shoes, the Silversmith Simon Benney, Steinway and Wedgewood.
...On the silk road showed traditional wood carving and pottery and weaving/dyeing families.
...Japan covered swordsmiths potters and kimono makers.

For those interested in arts and crafts they're really good TV, far better than the pretend competition pottery/baking/sewing tosh that infests most channels.

I saw the Japanese swordmaking one, the family business. That was fascinating as well.

I found the website for the knife maker, they start at £220 for the plain ones, and about £350 or so for the Damascus blades. I can't decide whether the Damascus ones are a tool or a work of art

Is that really an either/or question?
