MrsT & I were let blood this morning. Nurse was wearing an ordinary clinical mask with the loops crossed and I could see through it from one side to the other. She said she was vaccinated, so I hope it was long enough ago to stop her catching Covid & spreading it.

A 40 minute stroll, using trekking poles, rather than my crutches, for my daily allowed exercise Physio Approved around a local woodland.  A mere 4000 steps.  To think in 2020 I had done my first 200km Audax event, and now I'm struggling to walk.   :'(

Mate you will get back. I cycled around the world arrived back to not being able to go to the loo with out having a rest in bed/sofa for an hour or so before I could make a cuppa to then again have a rest...

Yes 2020 was a bugger I just got back into enjoying cycling again and had taken up archery (which I really enjoyed). Only manged one ride all of last year.

Why have you waited so long for blood test results they should have been back ages ago unless it was an out of the ordinary test. Get on to your GP or check your notes online. If you are seeing a Consultant about your back make an appointment to see him. They can read the MRI results. When SWMBO went to she a Consultant and he asked for an MRI she booked another appointment to see him and the MRI at the same time. You have to be your own advocate with the NHS otherwise you can sit around for months and nothing happens. In the mean time people who went after you have rung them a few times and got their results.
Bloods should have been done within a couple of days and the results available to gp within a day of that tops.
Unless a properly rare test at worst Fife would have sent them to Edinburgh or Dundee, which then has cross border communication limitations RM don't have the mail contract though.

No direct patient access to most medical records in Scotland yet though.

Got my dodgy knee X-rayed and echoed today, and since they got both my knees onto the same sheet of film the radiologist pronounced on the good one too. Nothing untoward, just a wee bit of plaque in the popliteal arteries, which doesn't play any part in what I was feeling.  He reckons that the kneecap was floating a bit and touching the femur during my wood-schlepping exercises, and the rest was due to the consequent inflammation.  Nice thing was that he's a cyclist, so we were nattering about that as much as the load on my bendy bits.

Quite a relief: last thing I need is a buggered meniscus or arthritis.  Bought myself an imposing entrecôte to celebrate - not quite within the constraints of my diabetic diet but my last analysis was good and Jack gets fed up being a dull boy.

WHINGE... My dodgier right hip decided to start fucking around at about 10pm last night, joint catching which is excruciatingly painful and having no comfortable position in seated or lying position. There's no point in pain meds, they don't work.

I'm now actually ON the waiting list for the Birmingham Pelvic Osteotomy and Femoral Osteotomy surgery but that's going to be 3-4 months away at absolute best and the recovery from hell.

Thanks, it seems to be easing off a bit. Sat in a different chair for a while. Trying to remember to keep moving around a lot so I don't stiffen up more.

Cardiac echography & stress test yesterday, all well. He only took me up to 180W on the exercise bike, though. When I did the Ventoux in 2007 I maintained that for 2½ hours. I was a young thing of 60 back then, though.

6 months to play until the next appointment.

I woke up on Sunday with a big red patch on the white of my eye, but no other symptoms at all, so I basically ignored it (as per the NHS website) and figured it would just go away. It shrunk significantly, but has now stopped shrinking. I've sent a picture to the doc via their online portal, I am wondering if I ought to try to get a GP appointment (or an opticians one - I reckon the opticians are probably easier to see).

My wife gets these occasionally, completely out of the blue. Takes a few days to dissipate, but always have. No known cause.

The other night I managed to get a literally off-scale reading from my peak flow meter.  The little pointer pingfuckited across the room, never to be seen again.  PH33R MY AW3S0M3 LUNGZ0RZ!  (Or possibly the age of the meter.)

How in hell do you manage to tear an anterior tibialis on a bike?  Cycling is one of the recommended alternative sports for runners recovering from injured shins. Mine went ouch on a lousy 5% climb yesterday.  Palpable lump last night, much less today but still giving me the odd jab.  One is not amused.

Equally how does one mess up ones back while soaping your lower legs in the shower?

Something tweaked on Sunday morning, I was still mobile till after lunch when it became difficult to stand let alone walk. The stairs were not fun. Sunday night was uncomfortable and Monday morning still bad. By monday evening I was at least able to walk without leaning on a wall or banister.

Today it is uncomfortable but I am mobile and am able to sit at work, though walking around site says something is still wrong.

That's a bit easier than tearing a muscle that's not under strain.  Bending over with straight legs is one of the commonest methods of popping something in your back.

While the Inlaw Paw was still alive we had a fold-down seat put into the shower for him.  I used to disdain it myself, but lately...

I've been injected this morning.

Last time I had this done the nice Mr Al-Maiyah went top down but today Dr Spratt went bottom up.
He also said I had really a impressive callus.

I'm waiting for the steroid flare.

I think my welding helmet is a bit wonky. I did a tiny bit of welding (maybe 10 tacks) on Saturday, and my right eye has been really gritty the last day and a half. :( Strangely, the left is basically fine.
I've ordered a new helmet (one with replaceable batteries and a low battery warning light), so it shouldn't happen again, and I'll get some regular saline drops when I go out this afternoon...

[OT] Which reminds me of the photo a friend posted elsewhere.
3 men at wedding, in top hat & tails. Couple's fathers with hats on heads.
Groom holding hat in front of trousers...

My left thumb (carpometacarpal joint) has started partially dislocating. The bone is moves off the joint and sometimes gets jammed there - I can move it back with my other hand.

Very annoying, I presume it is a side-effect of my wrist injure in 2016.

Another day, another letter from the NHS.

My next MRI scan, number 5 in my neurological diagnosis adventures, and the second scan of my cervical scan, will be on the 5th of May.

I wonder if I'll get any answers? Or will the diagnosis can get kicked further down the road as I get punted between specialists, waiting for appointments to go on waiting lists for tests.

It'll by 9 months next week since onset of neurological symptoms, which put me in hospital for 5 days at the end of July last year.

Don't despair BrianI, I had over 9 months from my referral to get a scan until I got to talk to a consultant about that scan. Among many other funny delays like being referred to the same doctor that referred me, because the online booking couldn't book a specific doctor only time at a the clinic. Took a good 30min, once I got through, to explain in a way they could that got past the normal - computer says no - before the system and the person on the phone clocked that booking a time at 9am does not book a named doctor that I was asked to book.

Glad that you are getting it rather soon in these times, I wouldn't be surprised that there a longer waiting list out there atm

Thanks woollypigs!  This will be my 5th MRI scan (a repeat scan of my cervical spine), hopefully this one gives answers...

And resolved.

Did something at my desk (typing or picking up pencil).  Something went 'click' and there was a loud pop. Pain and movement difficulty gone. Hasn't got stuck since.

So I suspect it was partially dislocated all the time. That or a bone chip was getting stuck.
