Birds in the garden...

Today there were 10 Fieldfare in the C.waterii tree. A first for our garden.

Posting this here (rather than Where The Wild Things) to illustrate the flexibility of a superzoom... :)  (Panasonic Lumix FZ5).  Not perfect, but not too bad for a 5MP camera.  Soon to be joined by something new though.

I have to say they did look a little miserable, but eating the berries anyway.

No photos, but as I cycled into work yesterday, I could hear a woodpecker hammering away.

Woodpecker?

Saw one on the way into work this morning - first of the year so far.  We've also got a green one that perches in next door's apple tree.  Took me forever to spot last summer, as it's the same colour as the fruit.
