I made an account in 2010, sat disused until I deactivated it at the end of the year. Then last year I had to resurrect it due to the creation of a page for an unrelated project. With that dusted off, a few months ago I deleted all of it for good.

I have Skype for contacting people. Sure, it's maybe not the most well known, but I've got quite a few friends on there. Certainly a lot easier than using FB.

Three of my "friends" have just liked a nasty post by "Britain First", which is quite unashamedly the political wing of the EDL. Reason enough to unfriend them in my book... but then one of the three has liked a post I made which ridiculed UKIP.  ???

I noticed a post shared by a friend (who dislikes the right) originated by Britain First.  It was seemingly innocuous and non-political, but the name rang alarm bells for me.
Getting there...

A nasty little BNP spin off http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britain_First

They are supposed to have recently offered to act as bodyguards for Farage in order to protect him from "lefties".

Does anyone have a clue what this group is about?!?

https://m.facebook.com/groups/171205979604741?_rdr

It was a FB "suggested group" and sounds bonkers!

I have just requested the deletion of my Facebook account. I was spending far too much time on there, liking posts and whatnot, reading stories of the various achievements of various "friend"-spawn, and not much else.

My centenarian great-uncle has just visited his father's grave at Interlaken and his carers have posted the evidence on FB.
He gets about!

I have a Facebook page but I don't use it at all. Just lately I've had quite of number of friend requests from people I don't know. There is usually at least one mutual friend. Is there some sort of etiquette when dealing with these? Do I just accept them all? Will the skies fall if I just ignore everything? Do people get upset by refusal to acknowledge? Why do they do it when they don't know me?
There's no vibrations, but wait.

If you don't know them, ignore it and don't worry.  It won't affect either your relationship with your real friends or the non-existent relationship you don't have with strangers.

If you don't know them IRL, does it matter if you offend them? Think of ignoring friend requests from people you don't know in the same light as ignoring those chain letters you sometimes received as a kid.

In a spirit of scientific enquiry I created a Bookface profile last night.

Unable to determine any purpose for which t might prove useful, I deleted it this morning ???

Are facebook playing mind games again this evening?

All I want to do is send a message to someone.  Come on, big blue hand.  This is getting tiresome.

Appears to be having glitches, according to Twitter.
I see a posting from Ruthie within the past hour.

I just received an e-mail asking me (a) to contact them regarding my* difficulty accessing the service, and (b) telling me that if I wanted to unsubscribe I had to WRITE to them. On paper.

When Facebook tells me that
Bob,
Sue,
Chris Froome &
Kitty Triplehorn

... are "people I may know",
is there a button to tell me who our "mutual friends" actually are?  ???

Bob and Sue were in a film with Rita, if that's any help.

Ah, so it's Rita's fault!

[Glad someone spotted that :) ]

Oh, and I've found out now, but I don't have the patience to explain it, and anyone that cares probably knows already ...

Just read this:

The Audax UK Facebook Group. A calm and relaxed place for audax chat. No horribleness - just nice people making positive contributions

This sickened me so much, I nearly left the "Group". Must resist posting grumpiness, Must resist posting grumpiness, Must resist posting grumpiness, Must resist posting grumpiness ...

Phoned home to speak to Mum.
Dad said she'd gone to park with great uncle.
Pictures of their antics on outdoor gym were on FB when I got off phone...
