What Ho!

I have my 3 gifts sorted out for this Saturday afternoon to share with those coming from far flung exotic corners of the south.

Will it be gold, frankincense and myrrh or 3 gifts of more Portsmuthian nature... :demon:

The plan is to be at the bar between 5 and 6.

Pip pip!

What is the dress code for the evening?
Is black tie ''de rigueur ?'' 8)
Or is sweaty oik cycling gear acceptable?

Thinking of those who don't have enormous saddlebags for changes of clothes.

Route looks pretty spot on Rich! Any ideas for a tea and cake stop?
It'd be great to have more people along for sure, breakfast in twickers and tally ho!

Little Rose's in Pamber End looks ideal

strava route now edited to incorporate the tea & cake stop

reminder of our laid-back programme for the day:
10:00 meet here for breakfast
11:00 get on our bikes
14:00 get off somewhere nice for tea & cakes
15:00 get back on
18:00 get off, check in at Kings Head Hotel, don spats etc.
18:30 meet in bar for dinner etc

See you at 10 tomorrow, sally forth and tally-ho!!!

Who is Don Spats?

Anyhow, I gatecrashed had a chance encounter with the Audax Club Hackney planning committee last night and it would seem that Ivan is coming down to represent to swell the numbers of our London Village fellow followers of the wheel  8)

Yes, and I'm just back from my lunchtime shopping expedition across town to get one of the three items as requested. I reckon I can source the other two in Soho this afternoon. Akin may be swelling the ACH contingent as well

Nice to see you as always. Did the pub have any beer left once you retired?

It looks like HK and I are out, courtesy of very nasty lurgies. Have fun, folks.

It's fine.  I am on fixed, so I simply turn the bike around around and pedal backwards - instant tail wind.

See you in the pub!
Right! What's next?

Ooooh. That sounds like a daft idea.  I am in!

I have to say, a very pleasant and well behaved group meeting last night.

Do I detect a measure of disappointment in your tone there H? Not boisterous enough perhaps for you?

I totally agree with the sentiment at face value, a mighty fine evening, and soon after you left we moved over the road to the much quieter and absolutely superb pub that is the Haunch of Venison, one of England's oldest pubs we learned, dating from 1322. Postie was on fine form and holding forth on a wide range of topics but mostly about the 1987 Elenith.

A number of us agreed this morning (well, the three remaining from London agreed) that the event should be an annual fixture at around this time of year, a pre-first-200-of-the-season-leg-warmer (for some of us me that is). Perhaps it could be called Postie's Perennial Pootle?

At the same time In a parallel universe (Salisbury YHA) the 8 or so of us there reached a similar agreement (but without the name suggestion).

A very enjoyable weekend. The wind got me home in time to see the last 20 km of K-B-K.

+1 A very enjoyable weekend (and one to repeat annually) :). A good warm up for the approaching season but an eye-opener for my lack of early-season fitness.

I put a few pub pics on my FB page last night.
