Well that's one way to stand holding a gun... If it works for you, go for it!

The Dutch cycling team is not doing well at this Olympics, First they mess up the road race, MvdP crashes, an incident in the BMX, and now blatant misogyny from some moron official has seen Anna Vdb pulled from her bike during training...

If my Dutch is up to it, the tweet says exactly what you said.  Is there an explanation anywhere?

There is a link at the end of the tweet to an article in Flemish, which google comedy converterb makes an interesting job of...

In other news, someone on twitter just mentioned that "Brits called Tom are currently 8th in the medal table" Have not verified this, but it made me laugh a lot.

OK, thanks!  I'll have a look.  "Toms"   ;D

Couldn't find the google translate feature but having a go at Flemish (!) it seems the Japanese official opened a door which knocked VdeB off her bike, though she wasn't injured.  The officials didn't realise that the riders were actually competitors checking the last part of the TT circuit.  Is that close?!

(Presumably it's considered ok to knock non-competitors off their bikes in Japan - as it is in England!)

The Dutch team needs to spend a bit of time teaching their hosts the Dutch Reach.

Watching that on video, there seems to be no recoil at all from those pistols.

Isn't that the 10m air pistol? If it is there will be virtually zero recoil. They are pneumatic so purely air powered, no spring piston. The mass of the pellet is so small compared o the mass of the gun that there is no noticeable recoil. If it was a spring pistol then there would be the mass of the piston as well as the pellet and then you also get recoil in the opposite direction as the spring catches up and slams into the stop.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Blimey though but those weightlifters look powerful people in a way that bodybuilders just don’t. I wouldn’t want to fall out with any of them.  :o

That explains why the Dutch selected Dumoulin for tomorrow's time trial. What could possibly go wrong.

That was extraordinary - bow has a job to row and steer, but to lose command fostering like that. They came right out of their own lane.

Did better than the Nogweegie lightweight double sculls, who fell in the water.  Makes you wonder how the Vikings made it to Newfoundland…

It was an accident: they fell in the water off Northumberland and were picked up by four British sailors - who were heading for Newcastle.

I always understood that the reason that GB never entered a a football team in the Olympics was because of the fear that if they did so, FIFA would insist on the same for the world cup, rather than allowing the teams from the four separate nations.
I see that there is a GB team in the women's competition.  Has the fear of FIFA's attitude passed?
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.
