Are you using the playbarn cafe at the Eco farm?  They've been closing the main cafe during term time now.
Bikes are for riding, not cleaning!

That week's half term for a lot of people, I think.

That's the one. The Restaurant has its own opening schedule but the cafe is open every day. :)

On Sunday 48 riders assembled at the Wonder Cafe in Uxbridge for a Winter Boat Ride out to the Boat Inn, Stoke Bruerne. It was one of those days when we had four seasons and one of them wasn't summer. The riders set off on a bright and sunny day, unfortunately it was into about 80km of a cold headwind. Happily the wind didn't turn but the weather did and and the afternoon saw flurries of show and hail. Happily the wind meant it was mainly on their backs, but this wasn't your soft northern snow, this was southern snow, a few flakes of which can paralyse an entire region. Here's Alan Parkinson at the Arrivee, beaten and bowed from the blizzard.

Actually, every rider rolled in with a smile and spoke of how much they enjoyed the day, including a fair number who were on their first audax/100 mile ride. Hardcore the lot of them!

My thanks to all the riders, Dave Morrison for route checking and Rick Perry, Controller at The Boat Inn.

See you all in the summer for the London Ditchling Devil!

Looking forward to next Sunday's :) I've tried to lure some newcomers into it, we'll see how it ends up.

I'm not normally one to be spooked by weather forecasts, but heavy rain and 30 mph winds predicted.

Me too.  Headwinds and rain I can cope with the hard work, but they are going to be side winds out and back gusting @ 40+mph.
I am looking at a possible DNS and do the Chiltern Grit in 2 weeks time.

Out of how many originally registered, I wonder? (I was a DNS - 50mph+ crosswinds too much for me)

Indeed. Let's hope no one has cause to be helped by the emergency services, who probably have enough on their hands today without having to mop up leisure cyclists.
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?
