Title: Velothon Wales
Post by: ianrobo on 22 November, 2018, 04:38:24 pm
Sadly this has been cancelled for 2019 and beyond as seems never made money, I wonder how many closed ones do ?

I've never done any closed road sportives, but when I do seem them advertised I always see the price of entry as extorionate.  I'd rather drivers learn to be responsible on the roads, always.

Do not disagree with the pricing levels which is why I have only done two of them but they do get filled up and generally sell out

Did the Welsh Velothon last year and really enjoyed it despite the high temperatures (about 31c) and not being able to sleep very much in the heat the night before.

Great route though with some climbing over the Tumble and Caerphilly Mountain and all on closed roads.

Yes the entry fee was relatively high but would imagine that a lot of that went on closing the roads.  Great to be able to ride almost 90 miles and never see another car though.
