Has anyone got any tips on de-ponging a pongy fridge (and freezer) .  I think the cause of the problem is that for some time it (it’s a one-on-top-of the-other unit) has been trying to work in a very cold cottage, where the ambient temperature in the kitchen has been below 10-16 degrees, so it’s not really been working properly. :'(

Is there a clever way to turn it into a nicely-smelling fridge/freezer again?

Isn't a cut lemon left in a fridge supposed to absorb the pong?

Well I'm sure it wasn't Garlic or onion.   But lemon rings a bell.

Yes, lemon

Wash the whole thing out with a bicarb solution, leave it open and off to dry out and then as Nutty said put a lemon half in

Some bicarb in a container placed in the fridge is supposed to absorb odours.

I would put the lemon in some boiling water after cleaning with bicarb.
