My best friend’s having surgery next week and needs some box sets to binge-watch.
Please help?

Is this the kind of surgery where it needs to not be *too* funny?
Anyway, starter for 10: The Good Place

Second The Good Place.
And my suggestion would be Parks and Recreation. We've watched the box set three or four times now.

I haven't watched a great deal of tele in the last 20 years but Blackadder sticks in my head as one of the funniest series I've seen.

Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing
About as gentle as you can get but seriously funny and they touch on serious topics as well.

Duly recommended. Thank you all.
I don’t know about Amanda, but I’m addicted to The Detectorists now. It’s just wonderful.

Yes, this is very good. The Yesterday channel sometimes puts a lot of episodes on back to back
