Preferred mounts for GoPro?
« on: 20 January, 2021, 02:51:30 pm »
I got a GoPro knock-off for Christmas. It did come with a camera mount, but it's a bit clunky and I'm wondering what the best alternative might be.
Suggestions welcome!

What do you want to mount it to?

Handlebar mounts for most of the 'ActionCameras' are shite. I use an aluminium clamp (designed for fitting a bottlecage) and bolt one of the clip in brackets from the camera to it.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is...

I have a couple of SJ4000 GoPro clones, the included bar mounts are a bit agricultural, but do the job of pointing the camera in the desired direction whilst stopping it falling on the floor.
On the decent bike, I have an out-front Garmin mount which has a GoPro adaptor underneath, which holds the camera quite nicely. I believe the one I have is by K-Edge, other mounts are available, etc...

One thing I did find handy - as the SJ4000 battery is only good for around 1.25 to 1.5 hours - is a replacement waterproof housing which has a screw-in micro-USB plug to provide power from an external USB battery pack.

This is the eBay link to a search for the relevant item, I bought mine nearly 4 years ago, so the original link was no longer valid!
