4 days, fuck.
Can only hope its not too severe and we'll be seeing his mine of knowledge being dispersed again.

Crikey, terrible news. I bought a couple of bikes from him when I was living in Cambridge - they got me back into cycling - and he was always very generous with his time and advice. GWS!

Sorry to be the harbinger of ill news but a regular contributor on YACF, Brucey, is recovering from a stroke.

I log on daily to the CTC forum and as he was not only one of the most prolific posters, but also a veritable mine of expert technical knowledge, members became concerned by his absence and discovered the horrible news.

All the best for his recovery especially as it has been reported that he was alone for 4 days before being rescued.

Mods: if this is in the wrong area, please move, but I’ve benefitted from Brucey’s posts on many an occasion.

That sucks.

Ugh, 4 days waiting for help.

That is true purgatory.

I agree with MartinC. Unless those that know him/are able to visit, advise that there is something we could potentiaĺly do to assist him in his situation, I think we just have to provide our best wishes and make it clear that his advice has been greatly appreciated (as people have been doing)

No one is able to visit at present I believe due to the Covid restrictions.

I spoke to Brucey this morning and he sounded bright I thought. I asked the ward staff if there is anything he needs. They said he has everything he needs apart from a small suggestion which me or another Cambridge based member can take care of, not anything that needs a fundraiser. They couldn't share much else due to confidentiality but I left my details to pass on to his family. If they get in touch and suggest there is some other more substantial need now or in the future I will let you know.
Please let me know if you're local and will be passing by Addenbrookes sooner than next week.

He had never struck me as a flowers type of fellow so I sent a card to him care of the stroke ward at Addenbrookes. Ward R2, Addenbrooke's Hospital Hills Rd, Cambridge, CB2 0QQ. As far as I know he has never given out his last name on the forum so I will not now either.''

Like everyone else I’m saddened by this, and wish Brucey a full and speedy recovery.

However, I’m not surprised that he survived 4 days as he did. I imagine that by the end of day one, using only his tongue and available dust, he had fashioned devices for eating and drinking and that by the time he was found he was well on the way to artificial perambulation.

PICKLE RICK!

I really hope I’ve judged this right because - like everyone else - I appreciate his encyclopaedic knowledge and tireless help.

Gws Brucey.
