Trike
« on: 18 December, 2009, 02:25:27 pm »
I have an itch that needs scratching
Anyone have a cheap(subjective,I know) trike to sell or know of same?
I want something with a resale value in case I don't take to it &  wish to sell it or do get the bug & then wish to upgrade.
ATM I have to go to Longsataff's without my wallet IYSWIM:they have a lovely frame hanging over the till :demon:

There was a beautiful white Longstaff waiting to be collected at Madgett's this afternoon.
Mick was extolling their virtues for this kind of weather.

That's what I normally do but that which I want is the thick end of £3K,maybe a little more :o, & before I splash that much cash I want to be sure that I can be comfortable with a machine that is cycling's equivalent of golf:plus I would in due course have to sell 2 or 3 of the current stable to make room in the garage & dull the financial pain

Don't do it just yet.  Unless you have some tricycle experience it will not be a good idea to try to learn on snow and ice - you need to know what you are doing.

Other than that, Tuggo is right - just do it.  I'll be going out in a little while.  It should be interesting because we had rain about 10pm and then it froze.  Yes I'll be on a trike, but then I usually am.

Altho' they don't come up very often on ebay, when they do usually don't fetch a great deal. This is partly because sellers hardly ever offer postage! So, if you don't mind driving a fair distance to collect, well worth watching/registering for alerts when one appears.

The golf analogy comes from my first experience on the driving range...I could not get that bl%%dy ball to go where I wanted it to. ::-)

I believe that steering a trike is like trying to control something with a mind of it's own.

A bloke in the local CTC has a Ken Rogers trike.  He won't let me ride it in case I turn it over  >:(

OK, jogler...

This baby is ready for you to collect and borrow for a while - bring a saddle and a quill stem if possible. The bars are high and untaped so that you can decide a comfy position first. I'd hate you to crash into that first hedge without feeling comfortable.  ;D  This thing scared me half to death when I first got it - be careful!

One of the front brakes is squealing, I hope it's because the rim is new.  :-\

I haven't riden it since I got my Longstaff - this Rogers is heavy to pedal and has twitchy steering in comparison.
