Following on from the J'accuse thread, this is for components or other bikey stuff that lives up to , or exceeds the marketing hype

Shimano M520s, I have 3 pairs (all on different bikes.  Although they are not top of the range SPD pedals they just seem to last.

I haz to disagree...
Cane creek drop bar brake levers on the other hand... ;)

DMR V12 Pedals... lovely smooth bearings and look good enough just to put on the mantle.
Hope Vision One.
Smart 1/2 watt rear LED
Tortec Ultralight rear rack

I would have also put a vote in for my Etrex, but it's turning out to be nigh on impossible to keep it switched on now when it is attached to the handlebars. It's not much good for navigation in the pocket of my rucksack!

Ceramic rims. Bought 'cos they don't wear out, but have subsequently discovered that the bike doesn't get covered in that nasty black gunk that is the rims wearing out. Clean hands after a punc repair. Bliss.

STIs. Changed my riding more than I thought possible.

Got to agree with this   I have a set thats 7 or 8 years old , never had any maintenance and run just as sweet now as when new. Needless to say all my other bikes ( bar 1) are fitted with them

Specialized SPD sandals. Just keep going and going.

Shimano MTB SPD cleat design. At last, a secure mechanism that means shoes you can walk in.

XT rear mech. Ultegra rear mech. Just great.

Michelin Pro Grip tyres. Grippier than a grippy thing that won't ever let go.

I had that on both of mine.  Bigger batteries (i.e. most NiMh rechargeables) and a big toweling wristy-sweatband wrapped round underneath it on the mount to cut out the vibes works a treat for me.

YMOV. I have found them to be excellent as they have lasted some time on my various bikes.

Magura hydraulic rim brakes. Huge stopping power, trivial pad changes, and maintenance free.

Son hub & B&M Cyo/Fly. Fit and forget lighting that works very very well.

oh yeah, they are bloody good - for the price of some cleats you get not only a pair of cleats but also a superb pedal! the last ones need some bearing adjustment after 1200km, tough. and even this was an easy job!

Hope Vision One.
Not sure which version you have but mine (Hope Vision One Adventure) developed two faults (battery casing) within the 1st year. Hope serviced them for free, tough. Nevertheless, a waste of time and postage. If they work they are well worth the money, tough.

And two of my favorites:
- Garmin Edge 705: No other single piece of technology has transformed my riding more than this GPS device. Apart from commuting, it is always a helpful companion during the ride - afterwards anyway!
- not sure if it deserves to mentioned here (yet) but my new Time SPD 'skiing-boot ratchet' carbon sole shoes are a revelation - after using my pair of Shimano soft sole touring shoes for more than 10yrs.  Didn't think the stiffness would make such a positive difference (esp. on fixed)...
Sadly, melancholy doesn't pay my rent.

I only have one pair and I haven't had them long enough to come to a meaningful conclusion, but I like them so far. I also have two pairs of M324s (the ones with SPD one side and a platform on the other side) and they've served me well over several years of use so far.

Oh yeah and Marathon Plus tyres

They weigh 700g each, they feel leaden but some how they are a reassuring tyre.
No punctures in 10,000km might have some influence on this
