Does anyone know what time the race itself is and what time we need to be there? I presume we don't need to be there at 8am.

I've got a crappy old suit that I'll wear. Can anyone here embroider yacf.co.uk and some other stuff on the back of the jacket for me? Hells Angels style. :demon: ;)
Use sequins, Pearly King-stylee?

I can see it now -

One more question, if anyone knows the answer: I'm buying spectator tickets for wife and son, which includes entry into the family ride. If I want to do the family ride as well, do I need to buy a separate ticket for that or am I covered by my BWC entry?

You're covered, assuming the family ride is just "ride around the circuit as many times as you like" as it was last year.  Surprisingly few people actually do it, and it's not crowded.

Cheers!

Have you been sent the team passes yet, Roger? Will you forward them on to the rest of us or should we arrange to collect them from you on the day?

Or are they being sent directly to individuals?

You use the e-mail you got when I booked the places, I think.  If not, it probably says in there when it will arrive.  I can't remember how it worked last time.

I've booked a spectator's ticket, but will be decked out in Rowing Club blazer, tie, and matching Brommie.  Now to beg a bed for the night before in Oxford from my sister.  (First train from Derby onna Sunday doesn't get there till 1215.)

I will hopefully be riding the TT ( 3 laps )  which precedes the BWC and then watching my 71 year old Father in Law competing in his third World Championship.

I will of course be wearing my YACF KOTM shirt  ;D

I'm now confirmed in the TT  ;D
Only 13 spaces left in the Time Trial out of a field of 330 !!!

How does one go about getting a spectator ticket and how much are they?

Also, are they likely to run out? I'm not entirely sure if I can make it or not.
Those wonderful norks are never far from my thoughts, oh yeah!

Anyone can get in by paying on the day, but there's a small discount if you go to the Blenheim Palace website and book in advance.

Does the timer start whilst you are on the bike. If so I can walk to my bike and take my time folding. And draft everyone ahead. Giving away too many tactics there.

Last Sunday I Scalped over 10,000 cyclist in one day on my Brompton. Well, I attended Skyride. It would've been more, if I didn't stop to get the endless supply of free drinks.

Yes, it is chip timed at the start and finish so you can take as long getting to the start line as you like.  However, this then means having to overtake everyone if you're fast, rather than having a clear road.

BWC entrants have been invited to a special event on the preceding Saturday.  First 100 applicants get on on a mass Brompton ride to celebrate them winning a couple of Queen's awards.

May be of interest to Lahndoners, since that's where the ride is.

Same here. And I think I've left it a bit too late to get the rear hinge sorted, so I'll be riding with a wonky bike. Might need to ask Wobby John for some tips.

Señor Heras didn't realise the intricacies of the timing system 2 years ago. He started in an early group and blasted round and was the first to finish. Only at the prize presentation when he was announced as winner of  the second prize was it made clear to him that he was in fact second and he hadn't won the Ti Brompton.

Well, he isn't allowed to race as a pro since his drug problem.

My fettling will be limited now to a new set of slick tyres ( kojacks probably)   and a bit of chain oiling.    I'm riding for the fun of it, I have absolutely no illusions about where I will place, and the only fettling that will improve that result  by a significant factor will be fitting one of Cancellaras electric motors ( and I cant work out where to fit that ;D)
