NFOL 2013 Hampshire
« on: 14 August, 2013, 03:03:49 pm »
After a period of uncertainty, we've decided to go to the Camping & Caravanning Club NFOL* this weekend.

Sadly, mainly as a result of my being ill, we've opted to hire a car, so the Little Duck will have a second camping trip, but won't have been cycle camping (till next week). :(  We've been to the NFOL by bike since 2007 together, and Butterfly for a while prior, and it's good to keep the cycle camping flag flying amongst the vast numbers of caravans.

But it will mean we are there, so, if anyone else is happening along, let us know, and maybe we can meet up.

* National Feast of Lanterns - long story, but it's the big annual meet for the Club.

Well, that was fun.

We wandered about, drank tea, sheltered from the rain, played with a baby etc.

TGL was off with the Youth section having fun.

LD didn't enjoy travelling in the car, though.  Hope he's better with the bike & train this weekend.

We met a Tasmanian chap who is cycle touring Europe, and will be heading from Hampshire via Oxford & Cambridge to Norfolk on the next leg of his journey.  We told him of this forum, and he said he would sign up.  We also told him about the Siteseeker app for his iPhone, which could help quite significantly.  He was planning to find a McD's & use their WiFi for a bit... ;)

He says he got to Austria, then realised that European summers required waterproof panniers, so he bought a new set and sent his previous ones home ;D
