A lament for the Russian slice
« on: 26 November, 2014, 08:03:44 am »
Has any cake ever laid so heavily on the stomach or been quite so nice with a big mug of tea?
And what do bakeries do with all their left over bits of cake these days ?
I haven’t seen one for at least a year now and I really want one :(
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Mmmmmmm Russian Slice.

When I worked in Scab, a bakery van would come round each day with sandwiches and cakes.

These cakes were one of it's staples, and best sellers. I haven't seen them anywhere else, not even $Not_Very_Far West of Scab, where I lived then, nor where I live now!

I've never even heard of Russian Slice before but I've just looked it up and I reckon I've been deprived. Want one!
