Has anyone tried an 11-speed build yet?

Built one but not ridden it yet, hopefully this week. Front mech was seriously fussy to setup, even with full shimano components.

Let me know how you get on. I'm trying a Shimano setup with a Campag Chorus chainset.

What shifters are you using Aikon - ultegra/dura ace bar-end or something else ? I started looking at 11s stuff for the next bent but didn't get past wondering if the front barend shifter would handle triples (not that it'll make much difference since I've decided to go for a more vanilla standard build..).

I recently (just before Christmas) bought and fitted the new Shimano 105 5800 11 speed to my Summer steed. Assembled and set up really easily, I'm pleased to say, although absolutely no fitting instructions were in the boxes so I downloaded all the dealer manuals. Rode it a few times just to check the setup and the shifting was crisp and quick. Roll on dry and sunny days.

That said, I'm not sure I even need 11 gears, I just wanted them. I only had 5 as a kid.

Gibbo.

No, but a friend of mine - a dyed-in-the-wool, nose-on-the-handlebars, eyeballs-bulging roadie has recently fitted one to a road bike and swears by it.
