Mu folding plug usb charger - new models

We have the original model - very neat

I've just discovered that they now do two new models:

Mu Duo

Mu Tablet
http://www.themu.co.uk/pages/mu-tablet

The Mu Duo is now on my wish list - unless someone knows of a better product?

I'm wondering if some smartphones might charge quicker from the higher output Mu Tablet?  (might be useful for a quick charge boost at a cafe)

Duo seems to have the same output as  the 'tablet' edition.

uk style adaptors are bulky by design, i prefer to use european ones to save weight and space (they work in uk sockets as well). those mu adapters are very neat though and having two usb outputs is twice as good.

Nest idea but pricey.   I bought a standard twin output usb wall wart for less than a tenner in Wilkos recently.   It's not exactly large and it does the job.   So, it might not be pretty, but ...

The advantage of a folding plug isn't size, so much as it being much less likely to damage things when stuffed in a bag.

I've got one of the Lindy ones: http://www.amazon.co.uk/LINDY-Folding-USB-Mains-Charger/dp/B00A8MFOYM

Cheaper than the Mu, though not quite as neat a fold.  It would be better if the earth pin latched in the folded position.

I think that each output on the Duo is half the total power.

I bet they're parallel rather than separately regulated.

Possibly some difference in the dumb charger identification scheme used, though.  I know that iPads are quite fussy about what they'll charge at full rate from...

I'll second the recommendation for the original Mu - very neat, and feels reassuringly well made. Cheapest I found it was Maplin - very happy to pay a tenner, though they don't yet seem to be stocking the new models. As Kim says, the ease of packing it away without risk of damaging anything else is great, with the size a real bonus.

I really like the look of these, given I live out of a suitcase most of the time something that packs down and will fit in a slot is great.

I'm tempted to get the tablet one, so I only need one charger for my two devices.

Fondleslabs seem to be quite fussy about the voles they want to do any form of charging.  Mine sneers at any channelled through a USB hub, of both the powered and Amazingly Stupid varieties.

I think you can charge a Kindle from a suitably wired potato.
