Tour of Europe 2015
« on: 12 December, 2015, 01:00:40 pm »
I finished a tour around Europe in late October, but only recently sorted out some photos to share.

I made a quick overview of the route. Not my actual route, but just linked up each place and let google do the rest.

5 months and over 6500 miles.

Hope you enjoy!

Brilliant photos and amazing scenes.

Proof that you don't need a special touring bike costing thousands to experience an adventure like the one you had.

What size and type of tyres did you use, out of interest?

I used Marathon 25's on the rear and a vittoria Randonneur 25 on the front. I got through a couple of rear tyres before i changed the front. I bought 2 marathon 25's at that point. Quickly found out that the marathon rubbed on the mudguard on the front and had to drop the wheel within the dropout. Got rid of the mudguard, luckily it worked out ok.

Cannot fault the tyres, no punctures with them.

One problem was when i changed the tyre to a gatorskin. Going down a hill in a rainstorm, hit some debris and split the sidewall.

That looks like a great trip, inspirational stuff, thank you.
All that way on a brand new bike is good going - mine have always needed a bit of tweaking to get so I'd want to ride all day.

Nice!
I feel like Captain Kirk, on a brand new planet every day, a little like King Kong on top of the Empire State
