RAID storage?
« on: 12 June, 2023, 02:08:53 pm »
my 2x2TB raid drive is full and I need a (much) bigger replacement - at least 2 x 6TB.

It's for local storage of photos and short videos, I save everything onto there and then edit directly from the drive rather than saving anything on my laptop because the files are massive and I tend to come back from a shoot with thousands of files.

It sits right beside my desk so I can always plug my laptop into it rather than accessing wirelessly, although that would be a nice to have, if it's a thing.

I also back up from the drive to a cloud account (backblaze)

Any recommendations for a fairly idiot-proof upgrade?

Sounds like a cheap as chips second hand pc stuffed with memory running Xigmanas and a Zfs Z3 raid (7 x 4TB discs would give 16TB storage with triple disk failure redundancy).  Z3 rather than Z3 is recommended once your disks get above 2TB.
Clever enough to know I'm not clever enough.
