War and Peace, Deutschland 83 and the new Welsh language (with sub-titles, I hope) political thriller Byw Celwydd all starting at 9 tonight.

I like the look of Deutschland 83 and Spin. Not sure about Byw Celwydd - sounds like a Welsh version of Borgen. Will check it out though.

And if they all turn out to be shite, at least we've got a box set of Engrenages S1-4 to get stuck into.

Endeavour was quite good.
Edit: Apart from the solution being a deus ex machina at the end with almost no hints along the way.

Endeavour was noted for its disappointingly low space shuttle content.

Speaking of which, this year's RI Christmas Lectures score well on astronauts and enthusiastic space scientists, surprisingly low on Kerbals, and include a couple of rather nifty demonstrations as well as just the right amount of silliness and plenty of stuff that goes BNAG!

Oh thank you Mr. Larrington for you have put my brain out of its misery and I can wander over to the tenuous claims to fame thread.

Presenter Ellie rides up the Bealach in daft conditions, without the producers making a mountain out of it.

Just caught up with this (having never seen the prog before) and I think I'm in love  ;)

Not tonight, but close enough that one can program the PVR - a new series of Brian Pern starts on the 14th on bbc4.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Walking the Himalayas is dead good tonight.

Ok, it helps that I've been there and much of his experience mirrors mine, but I did enjoy the holy man's response to his basic opening question: "didn't you look me up on the Internet?" ;D

Endeavour.

Yes, was really glad to see this re-commissioned. I did hear the Dexter estate had put a block on more after the last series so this was a pleasant surprise.

Did DI Thursday just refer to 'His old sargeant, Vimes, of cable street'?

Deutschland83 is filling the Homeland-shaped hole in our lives quite well. (With a bit more humour!)

its far from perfect, but it is endearingly different from anything else I can think of, and features authentically dire 80's Europop theme music.

I finally got round to watching the BBC adaptation of Iain Banks' Stonemouth last night, which confirmed my suspicion that it's just a reheated version of The Crow Road but much less good.

Did anyone else know that there is a new 24 hour bike channel called, imaginatively, 'Bike'? Sky channel 464, Virgin 552. I came across it by chance last night, showing a rotund Paolo Savoldelli on a climb with a presenter, giving a blow-by-blow account of going up it in the Giro once. I can't find a schedule but did find this http://www.skymedia.co.uk/news/bike-channel-to-launch.aspx.  It looks to be mainly racing/triathlon based, but not exclusively so.

I've enjoyed both his walks.  His military training may give people the impression that his walks are easier than they actually are though.
He makes light work of very difficult terrain and conditions.

I've also noticed, on several similar documentaries, that "Holy Men" in the remotest of places seem to receive a lot of telephone calls.
Some people say I'm self-obsessed but that's enough about them.

I think it's tonight, part 2 of 6 of "The Brain" with David Eagleman on BBC4 @ 21:00. Part one was excellent.

Having somehow missed every single episode of "The Peep Show" for about 10 years I have finally played catchup (on 4 On Demand) and am on the final few episodes of Series 9.

I'm addicted and I'll be distraught when it's over.

It was worth missing just to immerse myself in it all.

Brilliant (hardly a topical review I know).

That's saying all men are self centred, surely?

But Peep Show is great. The dog BBQ episode is almost perfect from memory.

Still not as good as Father Ted though...
