Sort of potential nominative determinism:  Yesterday I learnt that there is a child at the Gorgeous Grandchildren's nursery with the surname King, first name Arthur.

In years to come when he goes to Big School he'll be King, Arthur.

While strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government and supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony, I sometimes get the feeling that the current shit show is no better.

I spent the weekend in Alcester, a little Roman (obviously) town in Warwickshire, pronounced like Gloucester not Cirencester. It has an Alcester Unionist Club...

. . . not pronounced as in Gloucester by a lot of Brummies & Yam Yams -  it's   "All Sester"   . . . I dare say they'd called Bicester (as in Bister)  Bi Sester?

I asked a bloke (bike shop owner in fact) in Droitwich, and he said "ulster".

In my limited experience of discussing the place with locals the pronunciation has leaned towards "Alster", which sounds enough like "Ulster" that my mind went to Unionists etc.  "All Seseter" is certainly a thing, though, and if you say "Alchester" they look at you blankly.

In an idle moment on a conference call I was poking around, seeing what sites existed on random short/cool domain names, after all, wouldn't you want to know what was sitting on for eg rad.io, or aud.io etc? (ans: nothing on those, not on fellat.io either) ....

But then I found an Austrian PR company: pr.at  -- slam dunk!

And of course he is his mother's Bryden Joy. They must have deliberately named him that.

I've just been to an art show where there was work on display from someone called Karen Painter. And a picture of sea shells – artist's name? Tracey Cockle.

Tomorrow I'm doing some cycle training with a young lad called Austin Cooper.  I'm assuming his dad is a car fan, but probably not his mum, as she's got a different surname.
