Edge of The Eighties triple CD

An impulse buy in Sainsbury's.

A must for those of us who remeber this music the first time around and were into the New Romantic scene - but not quite enough to buy a whole Bauhaus album.

Many fabulous tracks.

Now where did I put that mascarra.........

Mmm, I saw this on the TV last night. I probably have all the tracks on other compilations, though I do hae at least two Bauhaus albums too.

I saw the advert too but that didn't sell it to me, Passionate Friend (Teardrop Explodes) and some other ones I've not heard for oooooh, 27 years  :-[

I'll forgive them 'Oh Superman' although it was acceptable in the eighties.

Ohh, when I am fit enough to get a shop I'll have a look. We have a show  on a Friday night on the wireless here call High School Days which plays only 80s stuff, miostly pop but sometimes some 'edge' stuff. Did you ever get 'Club For Heroes' a similar sounding comp. released in the mid 90s, I seem to have lost mine with the others that I lost somewhere in The Château.

I'm trying to count up how many of those tracks I don't already have on other compilations and whether or not it's worth buying ... I'm not sure I need another 80s compilation. I might want it though.

Oh Kirst.

The terrible dilemma.

The eternal tussle between 'want' and 'need'.

I work on the 60/40 principle myself.

Hope this helps.

I wouldn't have enough slack in my waistband to do that now.  :-[

I saw the advert on TV last night too, and screamed, and hit the fast-forward button

I wish my telly had a fast forward button.

Freeview box with hard disk in it.  One can pause "live" WWP for up to half an hour, enabling one to attend to dinner, smoke a fag, refill glass etc. etc. without having to miss anything, and fast-forward through the blipadverts which may have accumulated during one's absence.  In this case all the Advertising-Announcements during the coverage of Rally Argentina on Dave.

I've got one of those. But wouldn't a fast forward for the normal telly be good?

Ooh that looks pretty good!  8)

I've already got Dark Side of the 80s & Alternative 80s luckily there's not too much overlap of tracks...

I've got those as well, plus another half dozen generic 80s compilations. It's time I moved on and accepted George Michael might not ever be mine.

I've been in an eighties 12" mode for a while now and have been converting my vinyl singles to MP3 using an old PC connected to my hifi with a myriad of cables. Have around 200 or so on there now.

I keep meaning to do that but my vinyl needs a really good clean before I consider it.

It'd take ages to do all my collection but could be fun hearing stuff I've not heard in years.

Some record shops used to have Moth machines to do this for a small fee. You can buy a good record cleaner for about £400 or a  kit to make the machine for about £200. One day I will buy one.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

Yeah, a local hifi shop apparently charges about a quid per album (incl. new inner). Probably makes it worthwhile buying a cleaning machine - I've seen a cheap manual one for £45 but reviews are mixed. I suppose I could always sell a decent one as soon as I was finished with it. Have looked at the Moth kits & also the KAB EV-1 & Nitty Gritty models.

It's ultimately all a question of 'can I be bothered with the whole process?'  :-\

Of course I could try to Limewire all my old albums instead...

Anyhoo, I saw the advert last night just after I returned from a wee run on my bike...I couldn't help but have a wee dance whilst still wearing lycra.  I don't think it was appreciated  :o ;D
