Hasn't this been on the cards for a while?  Maybe I'm misremembering.  There was talk of it when we lived in the People's Republic.

It was always a bit of an overstretch ok the budget.  Govt can't condemn the action when Pickles insists on Charge capping.

I always thought that the "Olympic Legacy" was bullshit; this confirms it.

This on top of the threat of closure at Herringthorpe Stadium in Rotherham (my brother and sister's home track) means that the closest athletics stadium to Sheffield will be in Barnsley or Doncaster.

Woodburn Road is being talked about as being reopened, but I can't imagine that will be very quick and it's not in the same league as Don Valley for facilities.
