I reckon I'll sign up for this....

Good call on dropping the bonus return to Horsham - arriving back at the finish - only to have to do a 50k loop back via Tesco Horsham to buy a banana was a bit soul destroying  :)

DPB 200
The routes sheet and gps (one file per stage) have been updated on the AUX Events pages following this weekends successful check. At least I managed the whole ride with both pedals attached......

I'll plan a final check nearer the date

Tell me. Doing the route check one year in pouring rain while climbing back up Kerves Lane was certainly soul destroying.

Probably up for this.  Lots of favourite roads in this.  Nice way to round out my SR series, which for some odd reason is missing a 200.

I’m in.  Plan to ride to the start from Selsey and back to Basingstoke afterwards for some extra value.  Will be the first event on the new Enigma machine

The highways agency have finally completely resurfaced the A272 potholed minefield that is by the Slugwash Lane turning.

Now totally smooth, but cannot say the same for later sections of Slugwash Lane itself.  Maybe my numerous “Fill That Hole” reports will be actioned before the riders arrive on the DPB 200?

I notice above you've amended the route sheet Anton, has the route (gpx) changed?

There have been slight changes to routesheets and GPX as following

1) DPB 100 changed on 23/06/2018 to have better intermediate distances and for GPX to remove the 'shortcut' when the road not straight!
2) DPB 200 changed on 13/06/2018 to have better intermediate distances and for the GPX based on actual ride and not via a planning tool. This weekend I'll be doing the DPB 200 final routecheck.

I found my mislaid cycling mojo on the 100 last year and am looking forward to this immensely. Nice to meet Anton in Lindfield with The Fridays on the B'ton ride too.

That was huge, if rather hot, fun. Thank you. Nice route, very few nobbers in cars - yes YOU in the Porsche Cayenne - even on the A272, the % markers on the card came in handy I'm sure, and a good first lunch - second lunch at Kirdford. Lost way too much time on the last third but nice going the "wrong way" for me down Spithandle.

If I'm spared I'll target the 200 next year.

Thank you Anton, for a lovely route, unfailing cheerfulness and great cakes and provisions ! The tea, in particular, was very much needed in the rather un-audax like weather.
I was shepherding an Audax-virgin on the route, and he thought it all great fun.
Will look to come back next year for the 200 !

Another “thank you” to Anton and team.
I enjoyed the route, especially now the extra Horsham loop has been removed.
A special mention for Paul and Ian who assisted in this being my fastest 200, despite the rather warm conditions.
I’ll be looking out for your rides later in the year.

Very nice day out, thanks to Anton & Chris.  Rolled over from Selsey in the morning, walked into the Steyning Centre to see things laid out for a time trial.  (Brought back memories of a hill climb up Steyning Bostal where my big worry was being caught by Pete Tadros, my two minute man).  I failed to do well either at the hill climb or the accompanying unofficial gurning championships recorded by the photographer at the quarry, the steepest section).

Set off briskly but I prefer to take a bit of time at controls, especially in the heat, as it helps me to take on enough liquid and salty food.  Towed someone steadily along the old A3 and across the Hammer Bottom and most of the way over the Devil's Punchbowl, where five of us grouped together just as Anton arrived.  Slowed down after that, primarily to avoid getting too hot.  The 50km I'd done before the start began to kick in.  From my days of Mesh Permanents I remembered that there was a One Stop just before the rail bridge in Cranleigh so I stopped for crisps and and to top up water bottles.  I shopped without my glasses and bought fizzy water by mistake.  Had to drink it on the way as otherwise I would have got dehydrated, but predictably it gave me some heartburn.

Was quite happy to reach Pease Pottage and have a large tea and realised that was what I had been missing.  Left much happier, with full water bottles, and a chicken and chorizo pastie inside me.   The sea breeze kicked in and took the edge of the temperatures, but I still managed to get through two litres of water on the last stage.

Anton had set up camp in the shade of a tree so was quite happy to sit and chat for an hour, before heading back to Selsey.  This was hard work, not the least of which was the constant stream of traffic escaping the Festival of Speed.  Reached Selsey with 300km in the legs.  It was the first big ride on my new Engima Etape, which handled very well.  I don't usually do 200s at this time of year, as it's normally tied up with family commitments or longer goals, but this was a really pleasant day out.

Thanks Anton. A beautiful 200k route. For me the hot weather made it a challenge. It must have been really hard work for you, Chris and Richard, particularly catering for us in the heat at Thursley, but it was much appreciated. I hope to be back again if you run it next year.
