Dunno yet, not feeling the love like before PBP that's for sure. The only reason that I think I want to do it is to say that I've done it, but doing it can be done any time. There really is nothing that appeals to me other than the ride, PBP it was the route on good roads, the general public being top draw and soaking up the history of what is a proud cycling area. I'll try and look for answers over the next few days, I've got until the 20th so there is still time.

After a full year of cogitating I finally made my mind up and am in! I've already raised the handlebars of the chosen bike in anticipation of a full value, Shermer free LEL experience

Going OT, but I'd venture that while the road surfaces may be poorer in many parts, LEL is aesthetically a much more attractive ride than PBP and worth doing for that reason alone.

I've been pleasantly surprised by road conditions on my test rides. Easily the grottiest roads are in Essex, though expert local knowledge has helped dodge the worst of that. The logging trucks around Eskdalemuir pull up huge clods of road, but those tend to get patched quite quickly. The really grotty roads near Moffat have just been resurfaced happily.

Of course, the roads aren't to the standard of those used by PBP, but that means that traffic tends to be lighter.

No thanks to barking-mad Halifax on-line banking. It was so bizarre I started to video the whole Kafkaesque process to prove I wasn't losing my mind. It included gems such as:

Bank: "If you aren't expecting this call or the account details are wrong press star or say 'stop'."

Me: Silent (because I was expecting the call and the account details are correct)

Bank: "I'm sorry I didn't catch that."

Quality! Obviously not for you but for those of us on the sidelines trying to picture this exchange - perhaps not the most accurate description of what evidently wasn't happening - this makes for most amusing reading.

I've been a near miss on LEL every time since 2005 and have concluded I'm destined never to do it.
