My son's threatened adenoidectomy  and grommets was just grommets, so he doesn't need quarantine.

Yesterday, on the way back from the FNRttC, as I was getting off the train, my brand new glove fell off my light and onto the track. (I cover the lights with gloves because they are dynamo powered and come on as soon as the bike moves - dodgy wiring, I think). They couldn't get it then because it was busy and they have to put a block on the line.

This morning we are heading to Sussex to ride with the ctc  and we had a bit of time so I went to see if my glove had been rescued. It was still on the track but they weren't using that platform for a while so the lady got a block put on straight away and rescued my lovely new glove! Hurrah  :D

Oh, I'm woefully lacking in fitness too.  But it'll come back, eventually.  And at least now is a good time to be increasing the mileage - it would have been much more annoying to not be able to ride in spring and through into summer.

Have taken a days hols tomorrow and Barbara and I with wee hairy daughter (25yrs old) are going to the pub to watch the rugby,  Ireland V England, we can cheer both sides as we are part Irish/English, can't lose  ;D

Poor deluded individual. Did you think there is a way out this side of the grim reaper? I started at BigCo on a three day contract...... in 1999.

Great news though!

I expect to be passing through Didcot at 0053 tomorrow morning on board 1C99.  Not too bothered about the Didcot bit, but glad to be off to Cornwall again.

The Physio is very pleased with my progress. There is noticably less scar tissue in/on the cartilage on the joint and the strength is improved.
I have to keep doing what I've been doing then this week I am to try a long walk (30 minutes+) and if that goes OK next week I am allowed to try running (on grass with good supportive trainers).
Yay!

I know about training and have been considered supportive.  Oh, and I know about cartilege, having had one out as a youth. Can I come, too?

TLD, as some of you know, is a keen gymnast, dancer and singer (and footballer, but I think we will gloss over that for the moment :) )

The dance school she attends has been asked to provide dance students for a professional performance on Wednesday this week.

TLD was the first one chosen by her dance tutor.  She is also the youngest, by a good two years!!!!

So, if you are in the M'boro area on Wednesday evening and at a loose end, head down the theatre for 18:30.

Well done TLD, and good luck/break a leg* for tonight :)

My good news - All my ordered bike bits for N+1 have now arrived, so assuming the rear mech will take the retapped threads, I should ahve a working bike by the end of this evening :D

*Delete as per which one she'd prefer as an expression of best wishes :)

I just made a head teacher blush with pride when I asked her why she has so many really nice children in her school.

FWIW the school is a perfectly ordinary state junior school within a 5 minute walk of Basildon town centre. I've taught there for almost 17 years and it's always been pretty much my favourite of all the schools I go to.

Permanent Residency (Canada): Approved!.

While my current employment situation is very secure, this is still a nice additional safety blanket, that will also allow us to buy property, etc, more easily.

TLD did her first performance last night, in a real theatre and everything.  It was brill (well the bits she and the other girls from her dance school did was, the rest was like a glorified holiday camp show).

Today she went off with the school choir to the Wensleydale Festival of Music.

They only went and won!

I am having a proud dad moment right now :)
