I was supplied with a new mop head at work today, meaning I didn't spend half the time picking up bits of mop string.

Also, when I found that the downstairs compost toilet was full, and asked if I should empty it, I was told the new caretaker is already detailed to do it tomorrow, as it's now his job.

These are both happy things! :)

We got a sponsorship form home from school today which suggests a few pence per point, just like in the old days, rather than x pounds whatever happens.

Steady on, we're not made of money!

The handle is fine. The old head was... very old!

I haven't got bowel cancer!

(not that I ever thought I did, but a relation is currently dying of it, and the NHS decided I should have a test, 'cos I'm an old git).

Wanna know how you do the home test kit?  just don't ask, O.K.   Yeuch!

Good news indeed, Wombat.

I had a biopsy taken from my bowels a few years ago, not a fun event.

Yes, I've had a letter saying I'll receive the test soon.  I had one a couple of years ago as well, so I know what to expect.

I have just booked a holiday for me, Poppy the dog and Alfie the trike in Nettetal in Germany in mid-August.

Nettetal is right on the border with Holland (near Venlo) and is flat, has lots of fields and lakes and loads of cycle paths. I expect there will be cake too.

I shall be driving over (have to with the dog) so can take more clobber than on a 'proper' cycle tour, I have booked a lovely little apartment round the corner from a lake and the dog has had her rabies vaccination. She's getting better and better in the bike basket and at running alongside so I think we should have a fab holiday!

And a month later Poppy and I are going to Koblenz for another week's holiday with bike (although this time also with husband and in-laws). Bonus!

Prepare for lots of photo diaries of riding around Nettetal. I rode through it once two years ago and it was all lovely!

Naturally, with the juxtaposition of the last two posts, I read that as Poopy the dog.
It is simpler than it looks.

When my train went past the new shopping centre in Stratford this morning I noticed that a new dual carriageway underpass serving the adjacent Olympic stadium had a lot of flood water in it.

I don't think it was meant to be like that.

Let's not forget the high-pressure sewage sludge main that passes through the site.  Though if it's got any sense, it'll wait for the opening ceremony...

Maybe we should all get together and compare techniques some time. The beach at Dunwich would be as good a place as anywhere I reckon.

Well, they are banging on about this opening ceremony recreating the British countryside. A smell of poo would top it off nicely!

Given that the whole affair is being run by a complete shower of shit, this is probably more appropriate than you can possibly imagine.

Or at least Sainsbury's bags, with dog poo in, tied and hung on the hedges.
Mustn't forget the millions of beer cans and crisps packets and fag ends everywhere.
