Is that really good news or going to add a bit of a kink to your commute?

It's going to add a kink to the commute, but that'll still better than the current commute which stops in Dringhouses before finally getting home at late o'clock.  We did try to get him into somewhere that was on my commute ages ago, but he decided he didn't want to go into a home then and nowadays he really can't be left on his own for any length of time, so our hand is being forced.  It's quite a nice place so I'm just glad that he's going somewhere where people will care for him, as opposed to some places I've seen where the service users are basically expected to shut up and die.

That must be a huge relief to you.

My good news (although it means I won't get much sleep for a week) is that the stepdaughter/granddaughter unit is moving in for a week. She's in the walking-while-holding-on-to-things stage and eating consists of mash it, chew it and throw it, so I'm going to be arriving to work with random bits of sweetcorn and mashed potato in my hair . . .

I've been cleared to drive again (doc sure I don't have epilepsy, just weird migraines).

Hospital has given me an appointment date to cut off arm and stick it back on straighter - 1st of sept, which fits in nicely with life.

Best of all, I've had 4 days with teh granddaughter, including two mornings from 5:30 - 8 where I had her All To Myself in the park for fun on swings, walking listening to birds and singing nursery rhymes over and over again. It was great, and it meant mum got a lie in for the first time in 8.5months.

after seeing the orthopod in December, appointment for the orthotic clinic finally came round yesterday.

Either he flannelled me completely, or he knows his stuff and can make it understandable to the likes of me. Essentially big toe metatarsal wants to sit lower than the rest, so when walking or running it's forced into line.  This then limits hallux ROM which causes pain and grief.  Solution, insoles (no built up wonderboots :hand:) with a cutout for the big toe metatarsal head to allow it to do what it wants. Also suggested a slight heel-toe drop on my running shoes, which I'll try.

Gooder news, they'll be there in 4 weeks

Even gooder news, he said I was an interesting case, not the usual arthritic old man, I was an athlete  ;D

The nice people at MSI, Purveyors of Babbagey Goodness, have decided that my review of a recently-purchased Product, viz. a graphics card, is worthy of a Prize  i can only assume that everyone else who has recently bought MSI Product didn't bother to register it or didn't bother to review it or didn't bother to tell MSI where the review is or is on holibobs.

What they decide to award me remains to be seen.

Haven't had the actual results yet but the boy has had confirmation of his place at Manchester Uni next year. Totally over the moon, tears of joy and relief all round. Proper proud parent moment.

(Still kind of wish he'd gone for York but Manchester will be brilliant for him. So happy.)

Actually, I think Manchester will be perfect for him - much better than Oxford in many ways, mainly social.
