I'm on a train to Preston to meet Daisy the kitten for the first time. Oh, and to see the family. ;) Woolly's home alone, which is not such good news. :(

I'll wave in your general direction, TKPs. :) Not fussed about the weather, having just escaped unbearable heat and mugginess in London!

On that note, although not good news. Our sweep winners were supposed to get their share of £150 today.
Except that some thieving toerag has left only £50.  >:(

CrinklyCub the younger has mastered the art of balancing, picking up his feet and coasting on his balance bike.  And did a total of 6 miles on it today!

I have fixed a netscaler issue that has been bugging me for months!

All it took was an hour or so sitting at home reading the configs to spot the mistake, then a walk into work to fix it!

I have all my prices in on one of the projects that I need to get done before the jollidays.  I am over spec and under budget.  So I've just had a useful conversation with the boss and spent over a grand on shiny procurve loveliness!

Look at what I'm hoarding.

Each one being 18.9litres, I reckon that's enough to float 189kg?

10*18.9litres makes 189kg neutrally bouyant assuming 1kg/litre for the water. Note Salt and other contaminants can change that.

Also if you get water on your raft, i.e. supported by the raft above water level, then that weight is part of your 189kg.

therefore to be on the safe side I would want ~20% extra bouyancy. so get a couple more bottles or reduce your weight to ~150kg.

Also, that's with the bottles fully immersed, which probably leaves water sloshing about on the surface of the raft.  You may want to allow for a sitting-above-the-water factor (I'm sure there's a technical term for that.  I know nothing about boats, other than to euthanise barakta if she ever starts to think they're a good idea).

On a 43km ride through the forest today I managed to stay upright and keep going for several miles in deep, loose, dry sand (my pet hate), bounce over quite a bit of rough singletrack ditto (the wild boar had been digging it up, rooting for grubs and, er, roots), and even score a personal max speed on the MTB. I'm still a long way from being a rufty-tufty mountain biker, but I'm pleased about my new-learned sand skills (it's just confidence to keep going, really).
