Takes 2021 calendar (which he does not have).
Turns to May.
Crosses out entire month. "On tour".
Riding a concrete path through the nebulous and chaotic future.

Only May?  I was wondering if I could go on holiday for the entire year.

Happy to put some serious thought into organising this as part of a grand plan. No committments atm. Just need an idea what people requirements are. As you may remember I live in the New Forest but that was, and still is, hideously busy since the first lockdown.

I take your point JBB and reasonably every Scottish forumite would observe that even Silverdale is not exactly North.

I have been ruminating an idea with would require little commitment save for somebody to organise the southern weekend.

How about three consecutive weekends going either north-south or south-north.  The three venues would be Silverdale in the north, Kingsbury Water Park in the middle and somewhere such as Sixpenny Handley in the south.  I am happy to organise Silverdale and I have it on good authority that there is plenty of room at Kingsbury Water Park for non-ALC'ers.  Somebody would need to volunteer to do the organising of the southern site.

We would need is a southern volunteer and a decision on whether we're going north south or vice versa.  Some folk could make a tour of it and include two or even a three weekends should they so wish.

I'm proposing the weekends of 7th, 14th and 21st May 2021, covid notwithstanding.

Time to give it serious thought.

I'm having thoughts about pilots for Yelliphant and my ability to participate but that's my problem for another thread.

While Silverdale is most definitely south, it looks reasonably North enough to be tempting.

North would be like Thurso.

Silverdale is about as far North as you can reasonably go and only get rained on, rather than rained on, develop hypothermia and get eaten to DETH by midges.

Dumfries isn't all that cold.

Speaking as a former regular visitor to the Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland, Dumfries is barely north midlands of the UK.

However, experience tells me that it is difficult to get folk to travel too far.   It is even difficult to get the north east of England membership anywhere much south or west of Appleby.

I’ll express an interest. It would be good to see some of you (again).

I was going to suggest that it rarely rains on Silverdale but then I remembered what happened to Torslanda's bungalow.  This is of course his tale to tell.

This north-south gradation is a good thing to take into account, as might an east-west one be. But we have no idea when or what sort of lockdowns there will be next year, so it might be sensible to prepare (at least mentally?) for meets at different times of year too.

You are at liberty to propose something completely different.  I'll watch with interest.  🙂

Having a plan ready to execute makes it more likely to happen though.

As for other events (ALC, York Rally and such), I reckon it's all going to be up in the air for some time.  The BHPC is an exception, as we're able to organise racing events under COVID-secure rules, but the 2021 calendar is very much a work in progress.  I do know we've got Darley Moor for the end of August.  Might hear more at the AGM on Sunday.

Following on from the AGM, I've stuck a couple more BHPC dates into YACF calendar, along with the ALC ones posted above.

If COVID-19 rules continue as they've been for much of 2020, it might be a good year for everyone to develop an interest in HPV racing (the Darley Moor meet even has camping on site)...

I am pretty sure that if folk put ideas in then others would be interested.  I suspect that there will be rather more than average socialising if and when the rules allow.

Are you still a C+CC member WB?
If you are you can camp at the ALC rally rates on the 14th  :)
Not sure of the exact rate yet as waiting for confirmation, but will be midseason at £7 per tent per night (even if arriving by car).

Where is the May 14th meet Rich?

At the Camping and Caravanning Club site at Kingsbury Water Park. PB.

I'm no longer a member of the C & CC but I could always rejoin.

That looks rather interesting. Will see how the pandemic is developing. I'm still considered highly vulnerable for 3 reasons: age, obesity and immunosuppression. I've stopped the immunosuppressants, I've lost 2 stone since July but I can't turn the clock back, no matter how hard I try.

I am hoping to get out to some meets next year circumstances permitting. However at the moment with a combination of the virus and Pauline's health I can't commit to any.

I want to see my friends
I miss my friends

Aww I love that!
Some of her stuff is verging on twee but that one's great. I went to see her when she came to Bristol a couple of years ago – the only gig I've ever been to in a launderette!  :o
