Registered this http://ridewithgps.com/routes/10781698 as a DIY GPS on Fri 13th ( :o) Nov.  Will be starting at some god foresaken hour (4AM?) to get to Alston for breakfast at ~9:30AM.  Company welcome on all or part of the ride.
Scrapped due to the weather forecast  :(

Try again, but nearer home this time...

Riding Iddu's EWE Baaa 200k Perm this Sat 21st Nov (though with a low risk of being delayed to Sun 22nd).  Starting in Theale ~0730 and initially heading to that there london  Company welcome on all or part of the ride.

Sunday 22nd - planning on 200km Waterloo (London) to Folkstone and Rye. Depart Waterloo 5am aiming to arrive Rye before 3pm (or faster as a group) including a lunch stop at a nice pub. 1,800m climbing in total.

Beautiful weather forecast - sun and tail winds - so be prepared for any weather other than that!

PM if interested and I'll send route info - B roads and lanes in the main.

Edit: it was so cold when I left that my water bottles froze!

Simon I would probably be up for that. (I've already got that day booked off) From Hungerford to ... somewhere!

I'll ride from home, so I doubt I'll enter the perm - I don't believe Iddu allows "off-route" start/finish, and riding over to the route twice to get a receipt is just pointless miles in December!

Will PM ya ...

I think I've a few people out to ride this on Saturday the 30th of April, but more nutters always welcome. A 300 km around the Dales with a piss-easy finish excepting Walworth Bank and a flat main-road blast to start. Some hills in the middle, far from the toughest the Dales have to offer, and some very giving descents. I planned it as a good route to ride on fixed. Which it is.

The current plan is to start around 5 am in Newton Aycliffe, or around half five in Darlo. Approximately 17 hours with a quick coffee at the bakery in Boroughbridge, a garage stop in Ilkley, a slap-up meal at the Wharfe View Tea Room in Burnsall, another sit-down meal in Dent or Sedbergh, and a top-up at the Co Op in Middleton, with the Teesdale Hotel as an alternative.

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/12731964

I've tweaked my original route for a Newton Aycliffe start, but this may change to a Darlo start (and a slightly tougher route, but an easier finish) if the Aycliffe posse don't turn up.

Not far enough

  • But what I do I do because I like to do.

Alright Steve! I'll see how many are coming out from Aycliffe, then make a decision. Either way, we'll be having a stop at Dent/Sedbergh. They were good sausage rolls, it'd be a a shame to skip Tebay...

Sounds Good Dean, don't want to go on about the sausage rolls, but I didn't realise the significance of them until after the ride, they were a full meal in themselves

We're still going ahead, Saturday 30th April, 6 am from Darlo, the classicTM route from Darlo rather than the softer Aycliffe version, PM me if anyone is interested. Sausage rolls are still on the menu...

Planning a 300 next Saturday/Sunday -

Either Glasgow to Thirsk (like LEL but shorter and different) or a Stranraer to Sunderland C2C if anyone fancies it? Would be a lunchtime/afternoon start from either location.

I may be able to make July 16th.

(My other option being a Bash route-check; its right on my doorstep, but is a lot hillier!)

I've Inboxed you.

I'm going over to Tewkesbury for the August bank holiday weekend for some riding. I *think* the 3 x 200s I've got my eye on are

Sam Wellers Day trip to Wochma
Benjamin Allens spring tonic
Mr Pickwick goes to Hay in a Day

Not bothered which is on which day.

I still need a 400 for my SR. Could you be persuaded to ride 2 of those in one go?

Holy mother of god. Erm, perhaps. Ask me this in a couple more days when it isn't 2 days after a 600 and the idea might seem better than it currently does ;)

I already have an SR, have I mentioned that?!  :smug:
