Hand trouble
« on: 07 November, 2009, 09:01:47 pm »
Whilst cycling home from work, i had a few problems with a car driver, which ended up in me telling him to go forth and multiply and then giving the side of his car a good old punch when he came past me close again.
It was a 206, and i wacked the back panel, which appeared to be pretty firm.
Anyway, with the shape of the car and my angle, its hit my little pinky hard and there some pain, which is pretty dull and seems to last. Just behind the knuckle(top side of the hand) the bone seems to go down abit, before coming back up.
Theres redness around the knuckle, but i can move the finger fine.
It gives me alot mroe pain when i clench it, then a sharp pain wheni straighten the hand back out, and now im typing and holding the finger up its hurting more.
It was a rather firm punch.
I havent broken anything have i or damaged anything?
I have felt it against the other hand and it doesnt do anything.
My right arm is built better then my right, due to the fact i canoed and always paddeled on ym right, and struggle with co-ordination on my left hand. Not tommy tanking thank you very much!

It's very easy to break, it's a common injury from fighting.

You can go and get an X-ray but unless it's broken enough to need pins in it they won't do much. It will heal but it will be vulnerable to rebreaking should you hit something again.

You are a Harvey Wallbanger and have a possible 'punch fracture' of the neck of the 5th metacarpal.

Get it checked out.

I dont really want anything put on it, would be hard to ride my bike then.
Although i could just change brakes over and use my left hand to brake.
Cant really be arsed with the x-ray thing if it is broken and they will just leave it and tell me to rest it.

This is a common injury in those who miss their intended human target and strike vertical masonry with painful results...
