Red Squirrels

Walking home with the dogs today, saw a Red Squirrel dash across the road. Didn't think there were any tis side of Dumfries so went onto the Scottish reporting site and noticed a distinct lack of sightings in my area (2023). So I clicked on 2022 - last sighting reported almost 12 months to the day (11/02/22) in the same place - how weird?

There seem to be concerns about squirrel pox in your area (not down to you I hasten to add  )

I saw three on Brownsea Island, the only place they survive in the south (the greys can't swim* across Poole Harbour).

*I bet the next firmware upgrade includes stowing away on ferries, or building a glider

Quite a population on the Isle of Wight for the same reason.
