Your (real) desktop

Thought I should start this one...

Dug out my dad's amp & speakers (circa 1971!) today, as I was fed up with listening to music through the tiny speakers on my iBook. Some wire stripping later & I'm a happy boy! I like the contrast of shiny white laptop and old amp/speakers.

I also brightened up my walls a wee bit (blutac still in evidence!)

Supper laid out on a copy of OS Explorer sheet 163

Wow - that takes me back. I used to really annoy my neighbours with a pair of Wharfedale Dovedales. Such a lovely sound. I think they may still be in the loft...

Yup, they're Wharfedale Denton 2's! They've got a really nice "warm" sound .

I had a pair of Dentons - excellent - IIRC they were hooked up to a Garrard SP25 deck and (originally) a Metrosound amp - later replaced by a Technics Tuner/Amp.  Those were the days - I do believe I still have a Sharp cassette deck somewhere in the loft.

Jaded - I think your Apple fetish is getting a bit strong.  Isn't it about time you started spending the money on decorating and re-wiring?

My desktop has degraded significantly since I last took a shot of it!

Actually, it is rocket science.

I've been working in places where you have to take your hard-drive out before home time, and lock it in a safe. A desktop left like that would get you well fired (and probably sent to Guantanamo)!

Nice work .

If you clean your desk you'll get nice big flat screen monitor like the person in the next office has...

That is almost like mine. A carefully ordered filing system. A practical demonstation of RAM.

Nahh.. I'll just grab a load of the spare 19" one kicking about the office and get them wired in.

I've been looking for a big monitor but I don't think the budget can stand it yet.

Been there, done that for 12 years.  Clear desk policy, because everything had to be locked away at night.  You just end up with a transferable pile!  Inbox, Outbox, and Pending trays, heaped up and piled onto a shelf in the cupboard!

That desk is relatively clear, there's only two PCs at the moment, I've had four on there, all of them working!
Actually, it is rocket science.

We had a clear desk policy at the Halifax.  It meant that the first and last half hours of the day were spent shifting paper around and sorting it, rather than getting on with the job.

My desk?

Well, I think I have one here, underneath this pile of paper. :-[
Getting there...

I have to share mine at work, so I just get on any spare computer there is. But logging on takes ages and I probably have to do that four or five times a shift.....
